How to Decorate with Candles

Candles are such a simple yet elegant way to add warmth and charm to any space. Whether you’re sprucing up your living room or setting the mood for a cozy dinner, candles can instantly elevate your decor. Here are some of my favorite ideas for using candles to create beautiful, inviting spaces.

1. Create a Centerpiece
Candles make for stunning centerpieces, whether you’re decorating for a special occasion or just dressing up your dining table. Try grouping candles of varying heights on a decorative tray or a runner. Add some greenery, flowers, or seasonal accents like pinecones or pumpkins to tie it all together.

2. Highlight the Corners
Sometimes the corners of a room can feel a bit neglected. Adding a cluster of candles in a corner—on a side table, a shelf, or even the floor—can make the space feel cozy and complete. Pair them with a few books or a small plant for a curated look.

3. Use Lanterns or Holders
Lanterns and candle holders are perfect for creating a stylish, layered look. A metal or glass lantern can add a touch of sophistication, while wooden or ceramic holders bring warmth and texture. Bonus: They also help keep the wax mess contained!

4. Light Up Your Bathroom
Who doesn’t love a spa-like vibe in their bathroom? Place a few candles around the tub or on the sink to create a calming atmosphere. Choose scents like eucalyptus or lavender to enhance the relaxing mood.

5. Add Ambience Outdoors
Candles aren’t just for indoors! Use them to set the mood on your patio or balcony. Try placing citronella candles in decorative holders to keep the bugs away while you enjoy the evening glow.

6. Mix and Match
Don’t be afraid to mix different sizes, shapes, and even colors of candles. Combining pillars, votives, and tea lights can add depth and interest to your display. Just be sure to stick to a cohesive theme or palette to keep things looking intentional.

Candles are such a versatile decor element, and the best part is that they’re easy to switch up as seasons or moods change. So, grab your favorite scents and start experimenting—your space is going to look (and smell!) amazing.
